UPDATE: To answer Mama's question in the comments, this is a common Eastern garter snake. They are found all over Maryland and are pretty much harmless to humans.

Jeffrey, do you know what kind of snake this is? Did you find it in your yard or your neighbor's? I don't like sneaky snakes nor does your dad. He wouldn't even come and look at this.
