Happy 43rd Mama and Pops (Way Back When-sday)

Today is the 43rd wedding anniversary for my parents. They've actually been together as a couple of some kind or another for probably a little over 50 years considering they started liking each other in grade school. At top is the picture of Mama that ran with the story about their wedding. Yes, that was back in the days when weddings were celebrated and not treated as paid announcements. To the right is the story that ran with the picture. This one appeared in the South Boston, Va., paper. Stories and a photo also ran in the Durham, N.C., paper and in their hometown paper, the Courier Times of Roxboro, N.C. Click on the image to open it in a new window and read it.

To the left is one of the original wedding announcements. You can also click on it to make it larger and read it.

One of the first videos I made after learning how to use photos and iMovie was one featuring old photos of Mama and Pops up until I was born. Check it out by clicking here.
