First coat of paint is on
BEFORE ... [as always, you can click photos to enlarge] ... AFTER
Now the waiting begins for it to dry in this humidity. There is a chance of thunderstorms. I hope it dries before they hit. Canal Day is this weekend and the porch has to be ready before then.
The porch flooring was in awful condition (at right) from water and sun damage. We've replaced all the boards with tongue and groove fir and primed it on all sides.
Here's an earlier post from when Stephen came down and put in the new boards.

It really looks good but I thought your Dad was to help with the painting. You are just like him, you'd rather do it yourself than ask for help. ILY, Mama
Believe me, Ma... there is plenty for both of you to help do the day before Canal Day. I had to try to get some paint down while it wasn't raining and since Pops and I hadn't planned on painting until Wednesday, I figured it was best just to hop to it.
BTW... The big ass TV is awesome.... I can't wait to watch the Eagles on it. Watching the race was great.
That looks great!
looks good...Ste why didnt you level it first!?!?!?
As for leveling the porch, I think it has to be leaning toward the front of the house so water won't stand on it when the rain blows in on it. So Ste must have known what he was doing.
That's right. Properly installed, it should lean to keep any water from standing on it. Much the same reason a football field has a crown in the middle of it and it slopes to each sideline.
This blog should be called a learning blog.
bla bla bla ....it has a way too much of a pitch on it. Water will run off the slightest pitch!
The railing is tricking your vision. It doesn't have as much pitch as you think it does. Check it out Saturday.
I am bringing a tape and a level with me...haha
