'Seeing everything you lost'

It seems like you have a priveleged life to me. From what I can see, you have a wife, brothers and parents, an awesome house, and two strong legs to walk on...what's your problem? If you think you have it bad, why don't you hop a plane to Iraq, South Africa, or easier, our country's capital, Washington, DC and then tell us how bad you have it. We are all given different gifts in this world, to ignore them or take them for granted is a disgrace.

Someone went a bit overboard... And I can guess who.

It wasn't me that left the first comment but whoever did, they did a fine job of pointing out some interesting facts to all that read your blog. I couldn't have done it better myself.

Someone once told me...Appreciate more of what you have around you. Treasure what you have today because, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not here yet. Treasure what you have.

God helps those who help themselves.

Ever see that SNL skit "Debbie Downer"? The daily blog posts are sort of leaning in that direction...

I don't know about your God, but my God helps everyone ... even those who can't help themselves or don't feel like they can help themselves. I'm not worried.

As for Debbie Downer -- never saw it. But if you're looking for everything to be smiles and happy endings all the time, I suggest you read another blog.

I don't even know what to say. I can't believe someone would write something like that. Anonymously at that. Yes, you have a lot to be thankful for, but you're allowed to have days that aren't perfect, days when you feel down, and there's no reason you shouldn't be able to discuss those issues around you and how you feel about it all. I appreciate the honesty in your writing. Let's hope the "Debbie Downer" commenter moves on to some cupcake fluff.

Thank you, Mara...

I agree with Mara. Your brother's garage burned down, it was sad, he lost a lot. Yeah, it's not the end of the world for anyone. No one died. But it still sucked. And it happened in your family. And you've been blogging about it. If someone doesn't want to read about it they can move on.
